Just Keep Running, by fraser stewart
This was a site specific work placed in what was previously a sauna. It was positioned at the bottom of a staircase so that as the viewer came down they were confronted with what appeared to be an overflowing sink.
In fact a mechanism positioned under the floor circulated the water, which drained under a red carpet. This work was inspired by memories of being a child and leaving the bath running which then began to pour through the ceiling and into my parent’s kitchen. This I have been told is quite a common memory for others also.
During the exhibition, entitled "Holy House part II: MASS" which was curated by renowned Dutch fashion photography duo Carmen Freudenthal and Elle Verhagen, the work both intrigued and entrained many who panicked and tried turning the taps of the sink in order to stem the flow of water. The taps had been modified so that it was impossible to turn the flow off.
